event 001 Saeki was born in August of 1313 A.D. on the Japanese island of Kyushu. Despite being born into a somewhat prestigious family where one would've expected a higher modicum of freedom even during the feudal age, most of her would be spare time was spent studying martial combat. Her village had been one of the primary targets during the second attempted invasion by the Mongols in 1281. As such, her birth came at a time when under mandate of the Kamakura regime, the country was locked in a state of 'all hands on' preparation for a potential third invasion that never came to be.event 002 In Spring of 1331, amidst growing resentment towards the government and the ever increasing lack of stability, various cabals of rebels had begun to rise up in staunch opposition what they felt was gross mismanagement in how the nation had been run by the shogunate. One evening, during a mission to spread propaganda urging citizens to rise up against the shogun, she was caught by one of their samurai and, subsequently was put to death without trial. The following evening she was tied to a wooden stake and covered in flammable liquid. Her fate was to be burned alive, made an example of to serve as a warning to keep others from stepping out of line. This however, was not the end of her story as either by blessing or curse, the woman survived.event 003 Following the failed execution, Saeki went into hiding while she recovered from her injuries - as best she could, anyway. Considering the fact all who knew her believed she had indeed burned alive, the disgraced woman rarely showed herself in public. When she did make an appearance to purchase supplies, not an inch of her scarred flesh seen, nor a word spoken. Saeki remained in the country for the next several years, watching the fall of the Kamakura from the shadows and making a long term plan that no one could have predicted.event 004 In 1343, a decade after the fall of the previous government, Saeki had travelled to a port city on the south-eastern shores of Hokkaido. In the past decade it had become a major trading hub with other nations, and it was here she'd come across a Dutch ship unloading spices, raw ores, and other sought after goods. After some negotiation with the ship's captain, he agreed to take her to Europe as a passenger. Having heard whispers of dark magical secrets with the potential to end the world, Saeki had become intrigued and had made plans to sail to the continent a handful of years prior. How much of that was overblown fairy tale however, was anyone's guess.event 005 By 1347 she'd landed in Scotland, and had begun her search in earnest. One thing she didn't expect however was that by this time, the Black Death was ravaging the countryside in every nation the virulent plague reached. Saeki deided that finding any assistance for her search was a risk she could not take, knowing that should she be infected by the Bubonic Plague chances of her continued survival were miniscule at best.event 006 Her search finally came to an end roughly six months later in the fall, when perhaps out of sheer luck Saeki stumbled upon a hidden away abandoned crypt, showing all the signs of having been used by an extremely powerful necromancer. Doing her due diligence, she investigated every corner, every page of every tome.Finally, she'd come across a set of stained and weathered pages dictating the steps for a ritual known as the 'Pact of Undeath'. If a person's soul is strong enough, they could use it to sever the chains shackling spirit to flesh, giving up humanity for the chance at everlasting life and power beyond one's comprehension. This was not without risk however, as should one fail they would completely cease to exist - not even a trace would remain. Saeki had surmised that the sorcerer who'd previously called this dank fetid cavern their unholy abode met such a fate. Although the danger was immense and the consequences weighed heavy, the youung woman was ready and willing to wager the ultimate price for but a chance at eternity.event 007 Preparing for the ceremony took Saeki a full calendar year, though to her it seemed far longer. Standing at the center of a magical seal inked in her own blood, she'd pierced her own heart with an enchanted dagger as the incantation was chanted forth from her lungs. Although losing consciousness from the blood loss, her body had continued acting, becoming possessed by unholy magic as the ritual would soon reach completion. Upon awakening, Saeki had noticed that her flesh had become visibly more pale, although the scarring from her failed execution years ago had remained. A sapphire crystal chosen as her first phylactery beamed with life, a disembodied energy seen dancing inside of its confines - her own mortal soul.event 008 Remaining in Scotland, Saeki continued to use the crypt as a base of operations, although she would soon further expand its reach deeper inward and place numerous traps around the perimeter of the cavern to ward off nosy treasure seekers. By 1351 the Plague had shown no sign of slowing down, and the budding lich had taken to stealing the corpses of the recently departed to further the growth of her abilities.event 008 One evening in the sweltering summer of 1681, she was visited out of nowhere by none other than Belial Aensland, the demonic ruler of the realm of Makai and the patriarch of the Aensland family. He'd been watching Saeki since she survived her execution several centuries ago with great interest and had come to offer her a boon, albeit not for free of course. The demon king spoke of a further, final step of evolution that a lich can take known as the Rite of Ascension. Restoring several aspects of a lich's humanity, the rite elevates them to a perfected lich, nigh untouchable in the potential they can achieve.Of course, much like the pact that creates lichdom, this too was not without severe risk. Not everyone who attempts the rite will survive, and those who fail are disintegrated at the same time that their phylactery shatters like glass. Belial's terms were simple: should Saeki survive the rite, she was to become the witch of family's infernal court. Should something ever happen to him, she would take orders from only his fledgling daughter, a young succubus by the name of Morrigan, once she became of age.event 008 After the rite was complete, her soul was further split into multiple phylacteries, the largest and thus the majority of her power being buried deep beneath Castle Aensland. Eventually, Belial's premonition had come to pass resulting in his mysterious and unexplainable disappearance. From that day onward, Morrigan took over in his stead. Unexpectedly for the witch however, Saeki had been left in control of a sizable portion of Makai to rule as her own domain, much to her delight.event 009 In 1955, roughly ten years after the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and the conclusion of World War II, Saeki had felt a disturbance on her home island Kyushu. Returning to investigate, she found a mysterious cave that felt comparable to the bottom of a volcano in heat. Here, she met a blue star drake named Smolder Ashen, who turned out to have been responsible for protecting not just the island and Japan as a whole, but her family especially.After some conversation, the two formed a united pact, with Smolder becoming her right hand and the envoy of her will. Not only that, but the heirloom blade meant to be passed down to Saeki by her father which she'd believed to be stolen from the family memorial crypt was returned to her. As it turned out, the drake had taken the blade only to keep it safe from roving graverobbers.
